Spreading Awareness, Building Community, and Empowering Lives with MS-Take Charge

  1. Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

We invite you to join our team where you will you will play a vital role in organizing and promoting an event aimed at raising awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis. This collaboration can serve as a valuable reference for you in the future. We are organizing the MS Walk in Eau Claire to raise awareness and funds for the multiple sclerosis community. Your support in logistics, marketing, volunteer recruitment, and event coordination will be essential for creating a successful experience for all participants.


  1. What is the mission of the agency or organization?

The mission of MS-Take Charge is to empower individuals affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) through education, advocacy, and support. The organization aims to enhance the quality of life for those living with MS by providing resources, fostering community connections, and promoting awareness about the condition.


  1. What skills are required for this project? 

Social Media Proficiency: Utilizing local social media groups, community pages, and regional hashtags can increase visibility for the event. Research Skills: Researching local demographics and understanding the community’s history with MS can help tailor the messaging for the walk. Identify local organizations and resources that support those with MS that would be compelled to sponsor or donate to the event Communication Skills: When reaching out for donations, students need to communicate their requests clearly and concisely.


  1. What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

To engage students in meaningful service learning by providing them with hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, and community outreach, specifically focused on raising awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis (MS). Through their involvement, students will develop essential skills in communication, project management, and teamwork while making a positive impact in the Eau Claire community.

Flexible scheduling, will work around student's schedule.

Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder usually manifesting itself in early 20’s. Almost one million people in the United States have MS, making it one of the most common causes of neurological disability among young adults (20’s-40’s) in North America. The prevalence of MS in Wisconsin is medium to high and there is an estimated 20,000 people in Wisconsin impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.
